The 2018 Chicago Pride Parade

Held the last weekend of June and preceded the previous weekend by the two-day Chicago Pride Fest, the parade is an incredible thing to witness (or participate in).
This year’s Chicago Pride Parade takes place on Sunday, June 24th. It begins at noon in Uptown, traveling from Montrose Avenue and Broadway to its finish line in Lincoln Park at Diversey Parkway and Sheridan Road. The most popular and energetic viewing area is North Halsted Street between Belmont Avenue and Grace Street, but given the 21-block route you’ve got plenty of other options for staking out a streetside vantage.
Chicago Pride Month in June
The Pride festivities that draw so many locals and out-of-towners to Chicago in June began in the early 1970s as a commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of June 27, 1969, a touchstone of the modern LGBTQ movement.
The weekend before the Chicago Pride Parade—Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th—Chicago Pride Fest will bring awesome music, food, arts and crafts, drag shows, and other festivities to Halsted Street. This year’s Chicago Pride Fest performers include Mya, Kim English, the Lakeside Pride Jazz Orchestra, and Belinda Carlisle.
Chicago Pride Fest serves as a benefit for the Northalsted Business Alliance, a non-profit associated with the Lake View, Chicago neighborhood of Boystown, long one of the largest LGBTQ communities in the United States.
