Best Hotel For Fall Activities in Chicago
Chicago can lay claim to some of the most iconic entertainment venues in the country, and with accommodations at our Marina City hotel, you’ve got amazing access to them.
That very much includes the Chicago Theatre, a signature landmark not only of North State Street but of the Windy City itself, and awaiting just a stone’s throw from your Marriott Bonvoy Autograph Collection room or suite at Hotel Chicago!
The Chicago Theatre: A National Historic Landmark & Windy City Icon
Among the standout properties of the famed Balaban & Katz Theatre Corporation, the Chicago Theatre opened as one of the nation’s grandest motion-picture houses back in 1921, and its glitzy Neo-Baroque French-Revival architecture harkens back to that era of silent films, pipe organs, and live jazz music.
Operating steadily for decades, the Chicago Theatre shuttered briefly in the mid-1980s before ambitious renovation work launched a new era for the venue, its 1986 reopening marked by a concert by none other than Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, who’d first performed on the Chicago Theatre’s stage decades before.
This National Historic Landmark is now owned by Madison Square Garden Entertainment, and its spectacular marquee remains one of the most instantly recognizable features of the Chicago cityscape.
