Luxury Hotel for Expo Chicago
The Windy City, of course, is a haven for art lovers all year round, what with outstanding institutions such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Museum of Mexican Art as well as an extensive collection of galleries. In September, Chicago ups the ante with one of the most notable international art exhibitions in the world.
We’re referring to EXPO Chicago, the 2018 edition of which takes place September 27th through September 30th at Navy Pier. As a guest of ours at Hotel Chicago, you’ll be just a hop, skip, and a jump from this amazing four-day event spotlighting artwork from across the globe.

Billed at the International Exhibition of Contemporary & Modern Art, EXPO Chicago has been an annual event in one form or another since 1980. Nearly 30 countries will be represented among the many dozens of galleries included in the affair. The displays come spread across several distinct sections transforming the expansive innards of Navy Pier; besides the international exhibitors composing the Galleries section, there’s EXPOSURE, spotlighting solo and two-artist exhibitors from newly established galleries, and PROFILE featuring “ambitious installations and tightly focused thematic exhibitions.”
Other EXPO Chicago setups include Special Exhibitions, highlighting various museums, non-profits, and other organizations as well as the publications, photography, sculptures, and other media of the Editions + Books section.
Then there are the IN/SITU suspended sculptures and other installations, selected this year by Pablo León de Barra, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Curator at Large, Latin America. The IN/SITU Outside public-art installations, meanwhile, extend the EXPO Chicago experience beyond Navy Pier.
This year’s EXPO Video series, curated by Anna Gritz of the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, features screenings revolving around the sensory-oriented theme of Towards Non-Visibility—Portrait of a Tongue.
Besides the wildly varied modern and contemporary art on display, EXPO Chicago features fascinating discussions on a variety of arts-and-culture topics via the /Dialogues series, a collaboration with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
